my black widow tetras seem to be scared of everything. i started out with 3 in a tank of platys, and they did nothing but hide at the back behind a large rock. i decided that perhaps of they were in a group of 6, they would be happier, so i invested in a bigger tank. i cycled the tank with ammonia, and i also used some of my old filter media, then once it was cycled (which didnt appear to take long) i moved the tetras into the tank and bought three more friends for them. however, despite having a big tank to themselves, they STILL hid, this time behind my fluval filter. the three new ones were active for a while, then decided to join the old ones in hiding. unfortunatly, one of my tetras died, so i now have 5, but as they do nothing but hide it hasnt made much difference. so i moved the platys into the big tank, and put the 5 tetras into my 30 litre. i then took out the rock so they couldnt hide behind it, and added looadsss of plants to make them feel safer. its worked a little bit but they still remain pale in colour.

WHY ARE MY TETRAS SO SCARED?? arghh

the annoying thing is, when the lights are out, they swim happily and turn black again. are they lightphobes??

thanks for reading.

ps. the water stats are perfect i check them very regularly
