These two are my keepers from F1 of CT x PK spawn. My goal is to create my own line of Black/White/Blue Marble CTPKs. Probably be able to achieve it by F3.

very nice. is there much branching in the male? It's definitely hard to see in the pic. If you're going for CT you think you can get it back and stabilized by an F3???

when do you plan on breeding this pair?

Actually, he's begin to get some crowning and already has 2 ray(the father was a traditional plakat) and even if he doesn't get much crowning, it wouldn't matter. PK x CT would give me combtails from the start. Crossing them will make the crowning to appear again :) I'm aiming for CTPKs not CTs, and by F3 I should be able to get some.

Once my MG CT x PK F1 fry finish growing up, I'll cross these two. :D

okay i had forgotten that ctpk's don't have quite the extent of webbing reduction ;)

I'm sure you'll get some really nice fish from them :) good luck with the spawn!

I think this article can help you a lot. Sorry, forgot who wrote it.

OK as this is a little more difficult as there are two genes you are aiming for here I'll say one thing. Don't try it unless you are willing to cull. Or have someone to adopt loads of funny finned fish!

OK this is how I'd go abou t it.

CTF + PKM gives all long tails with CT showing and PK geno.

in the F2 do a back cross with the PKM to give you 50% PKCT with varying CT degrees and 50% long tail CT. Then do a sister brother cross in the F3 gen to get 25% poor PKCT 50% half decent PKCT and 25% of the perfect PKCT.

Pleeese someone correct me if i'm wrong! I 'm pretty sure I'm there on this one.

Nice kids, by the way. :fun:

Thanks for the quote. I've actually talked with a breeder friend of mine who also breeds CTPKs so I do trust what he says above all others. :good:

Ooo what breeder? I'm getting in 2 hmctpk pairs next week from vinita in thailand. Do you know what the chances are of getting HMCTPKs out of them, I'm not sure if they're F2 or F3 generation.
