Anyone ever heard of them, or got any info on them? I was at petsmart today and saw them. They look like green tiger barbs but are black were the green would be on a green tiger barb.

Green Tiger Barbs are not always green all of the time.. :)

They very easily turn from green to black and both! It depends on there mood on what color they are. When there excited happy and having fun there green..when there upset or just hanging around lol there blackish green but mostly black.

Mine turn a Vibrant neon green when feeding time comes along and when there playing in the gravel and with eachother.  :D

One of my seven barbs is really black....ibut hes not a green barb....Hes got the same black stripes down his side like a tiger.....but black in the middle of them....hes my fav...This pic doesnt reall show his rea; black...but u can see he has alot more than the others..(hes the lowest in the group). When they have there little duels amongst themselves he gets real dark! :D

Well they were labeled "black tiger barbs" and they looked realy black. They also had a few orange-red patches on them. Maybe it was just one of the things you guys were talking about. I'll keep track of them and ask the specialist (yes he is actually does know a lot about fish :D ) there, Iwould have today but, they were really busy.

They are the same species, so the general advice for Tiger Barbs applies.

You sure they're not Black Ruby Barbs? I have some and the males can get quite dark. They look very much like Tiger Barbs otherwise.
