I have 5 of these in my planted 75 gallon tank and almost never see them. The only time they come out is when I feed them and even then they don't stay out for long. I know they prefer to graze at night but my peppered corys in the 29 gallon aren't like that. At times I have even worried that some have died and I just dont know it but I have confirmed as recently as last weekend that they are all in there. To do that, I feed after the lights go out, turn off all the lights in the house so it is totally dark and stand there with a flash light until I can see them all out at once. Sometimes that takes 30 minutes or more. Anyway, I was just wondering if everyone elses were as shy as mine. They are very pretty and I would like to see them out more. My wife kids me that they're just an urban legend and don't really exist.

It is actually Corydoras Melanistis or black spotted cory. I would have sworn that I had found that listed as blue spotted but it's actually black spotted. I have edited the title to reflect correction. Sorry.

Hi rdd1952 :)

I have them and do not find them shy at all. They are lovely indeed, and I can well understand your wanting to see a little more of them.

Do you have enough open space in your planted tank for them to come out and swim freely across the bottom?

The front of the tank is pretty well open. There are some smaller plants like anubias nana there but plenty of room to swim. They seem to stay back in the plants especialy around the driftwood. When they do come out, if you walk by the tank, they scurry back into the plants. We do get to see them at feeding time though. If I feed the sinking shrimp pellets, we have a major feeding frenzy with all the fish at once. They really are pretty fish though.

Slightly off topic here (and sorry can't help as I don't have them) but I'd just like to say :bday:
