my LFS had a great looking ceylon puffer which i ended up buying ,he was almost completely black when i saw him and to day when i picked him up he was the same colour, they had him in fresh water so i assumed this was probably why.
anyway he's in my brackish 55gallon now and after about 20mins his belly has gone completely white apart from one spot which is black, it looks almost like a mole it's very black and the edges are very sharp unlike the rest of his spots, has anyone seen anything like this before and do you think it's anything to be worried about.

Not sure mate but as you say might be natural marking!

Nice puffer though, how big is he? I got mine and he still has his black belly I think this maybe down to him having fin rot when I got him as it is nearly gone now so hoping he will colour up :)

the mark is changing colour now it's a kind of grey colour so i don't think it's a natural marking, he's about 5 1/2 inches not including his tail, he has a black belly as well unless the lights are off so i don't think he likes the light, he's quite a lively fella as well he insists on splashing at the top of the tank if i open the lid and get water everywhere :)

That's strange mate mine does the same! White belly in the dark as soon as the lights go on it goes charcoal!!!

Ceylons change colour depending on their mood! When their belly is black it means they are hunting and want food . When white it means their not hungry, That black spot is natural and will fade
