Hi all. Could someone tell me if the black ruby barb is a fin nipper please.
If i'm honest I'd really love to have tiger barbs but as I have angel fish i know that this is out of the question. The black ruby has been suggested as a substitute as it looks very similar, and having looked at them I think they're a great looking fish, but I thought I heard that it was a fin nipper too. :/
They'd be going into a 180l tank with 3 angels and various other fish.
If they are can someone recommend another fish thats similar and available in the UK please.
Thanks for your' help

THEY CAN BE AGGRESIVE BUT A HARLAQUIN RASBORA IS GREAT AND PEACFULL

Ah knickers. :-(
I was hoping to have about 8 or 10 of them. Back to the drawing board I suppose.
I've looked at the harlequin in the past, and they are a nice looking fish, but it was really the look and shape of the tiger barbs/black ruby barbs that I liked.
Guess I'll have to have a rethink and try to find something else that excites me. :S
Thanks for the advice and fast reply Cossie.

ah also u may have to ask more experianced members but look at rainbow fish

The dwarf Neon Rainbows remind me too much of neon tetras, which too be honest I've never been a big fan of.
Also they're a thinner bodied fish. I was looking more for the fuller body.
It's a shame because the size is about right.
Thanks for pointing them out though. It's not a fish I'd seen before. I've only ever really seen the Bosemans Rainbow before.
Cheers again Cossie,
