Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could offer a bit of advice to someone that's new to the hobby. I've been given an AquaOne 620t which is a great big cube shaped tank. Its got a REALLY bad background and some very dodgy white and pink gravel in it. What I want to do is have sand, loads of rock piled up but am not sure what to do with the back of the tank. I'd like it to be black or dark blue but not sure how to go about it? Do I use something like card on the outside, cloth? Anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks

well you could use a blue or black piece of card or aquarium backing from lfs or paint it with tile paint or gloss or emulsion al on outside tho

Pretty much all shops sell backgrounds, if they don't have plain ones then a lot of the bleh ones have a black, or occasionally blue, back anyway, so just turn them round.

Yeah was just going to suggest that, get one thats blue one side and black the other? :good:

You have several options when it comes to a black background. Some of the common solutions include tempura paint, manufactured plastic coated backgrounds, card stock in the desired color or even black trash bags cut to size. Any of these solutions will work fine.

I use Gell from my work it comes in a load of colours its also semi-transparent so kinda like window tints for your tank gives the look of a black background but lets in some natural light as well, the blue version is awesome gives the tank a nice moonlit look when the lamp is on at night. Also no idea where to get it locally so i would use your standard LFS backing or black paper
