My filter has the inlet and outlet on top.

The black o-ring in the filter basket needs replacing. I am thinking of using a bit of silicone on the slot of next basket to seal it.

any thoughts?

e.g. bottom basket -> middle basket (silicone on the inlet hole which is locatd on the bottom of the basket) -> top basket (silicone again: same as middle basket)

Thank you

Hiya,

If you use any other method, other than the 'o' ring, you may end up with 'bypass' of the media occuring, which would result in a reduction in your filter efficiency, or worse, no filtration at all. Some silicones may also cause undesirable effects in your aquarium. I would try to get the correct 'o' ring first...
