I've just bought home 6 black neons (currently, the bag is floating)

I've noticed that one of them only has one eye!!

I'm not really willing to take it back, as they'll probably only kill it anyway, but should I put it out of it's misery? :( or do you think I should give the little guy a chance with one eye? :/

depending on what else you have inthe tank, he'll probably be just fine with only one eye. that sort of thing is a common incident in fish shop tanks. you may want to treat it for a bit just to be sure not fungus or what not sets in though....

I agree with MAM. I have two fish in one of my tanks that have only one eye and they are both doing just fine. Just watch for any signs of infection over the next couple of weeks. :)

i did the same a long time ago when i bought danios. he was a little scrawny thing that had one eye. he is now the dominant danio in the tank ;)

dont worry too much.

Ditto...a bunch of times, I still have an albino OB peacock with one eye and they're almost blind to begin with....atleast seemed so. He'll make it!!

That's that settled then, panic over! :D

Thanks a lot guys - I didn't realise it was so common, my only worry was if he was in pain - but other than his eye, he seems fine, he's settled in to his new home quite nicely :)

I'm soooo glad I don't have to go down the euthanasia road... i've never had to do that yet, and I absoloutley dread it. Hopefully, *fingers crossed, touch wood* i'll never have to with any of my fish.
