For the past 2 months I've struggled to understand the way in which Black Neon Tetras (BNT) consume their food. I have 5 of them in a 120L aquarium and only one of them will actively take food from the surface while the other 4 will only eat very small particles of the food (flake food) which has often broken off a larger chunk that my dwarf cichlid has been eating.

The actively eating BNT often rubs itself on the aquarium leaves (as though it is irritated) while a smaller DNT will separate from the shoal and just stay at the bottom of the aquarium. It will occasionally rejoin the shoal but seems to prefer to not eat and stay at the bottom.

I'd like to know how other people feed their BNT because I'm getting the feeling that there is something wrong with my particular shoal.

Mark.

MOst tetras arelike that, the best thing to do is to feed them crushed flake and slowly wean them onto larger pieces, worked a treat for me :D
