Have begun to notice one of my Black Neon Tetra has got an enlarged/bloated stomach and wanted to know if this was a disease/infection/constipation or pregnancy?

I have only ever had to deal with whitespot or swim bladder with fish so my knowledge is low. Top picture is the bloated fish and the 2nd picture is one of his mates who is looking fine. Just for a comparison really.

Females get plump. Dosn't look to bad. Looks more fat than bloated.
How often do you feed the fish.
What do you feed the fish.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Can the fish maintain its balance in the water.
Are scales sticking out.

How often do you feed the fish. Once a day
What do you feed the fish. Alternate between flake, prima and bloodworm
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet. short thin and terracotta red (prima colour)
Can the fish maintain its balance in the water. yep all upright about 2 thirds the way up the tank and shoaling with the others no problems.
Are scales sticking out. I didn't notice that when the pics were taken

The belly has "stretch" marks and its an orangey colour.

Only feed blood worms twice a week and not many.
I've had black neons females that fat too.
Need to introduce more frozen foods like daphnia and brime strimp. Daphnia good as it helps the fish digest its food.
Also you can buy frozen pack with 4 different foods in them.
I would all so feed peas twice a week.
I would feed some peas now.
If scales are not sticking out and she look fat more than bloated the fish is fine.

thanks for the info. Scales are definately in so it looks like a small change in diet as you suggest. Do I need to do anything to the peas? Apart from defrost them

Cook frozen peas for a few minutes in boling water. Let cool down and pop out of shell, Mush into small peices and add to the tank.
You need to pop out of shell as they fish can't digest the shell.

Many thanks, dinner is on!

LOL.
They might turn there noses up at them the first time. Just keep trying them over the week. Remove uneaten peas.
