Hi,

I was watching my girlfriends goldfish the other day and I've noticed her black moore has started to become less black.

The under belly, and around the anus used to be white/silver, but it has now become orange. The fish has also started to develop some orange scales.

Any idea why? I did wonder if there could be a lot of Beta-carotene in the food, which is a natural orange dye found in carrots and oranges.

They are fed TetraFin - GoldJapan

Also one of the white orands has started to go orange, in places, but this fish did have orange on it when it was much smaller.

:good: thanks for any help

yeah the colour morph is something i did mention to my girlfriend, as I know goldies start black and change colour, but not heard of black moores going like that. And he isnt a baby either he's a good 5-6".

I'm not into Goldies, too much hassle for a fish which is imo boring :) and grow too big to warrent having a big tank

Black is an ustable colour for most goldies and most mass produced blackmoors will turn gold at some point. Sometimes youll get lucky and have one that stay totally black, but its not common

My father has a common goldfish, When it was about 4 years old it started to turn white in places, Now it's pure white, Quite cool looking! I've read its normal.

My blackmoore is still black, with bronze underneath, he's close to 3 years old now, so guess i'm lucky. He's also a beast, measuring roughly 5 inches across.

Although the really nice looking fan tail that i bought, that a really awesome black stripe across it's back is now just plain gold, and also survived a near death experience from my cat.

lol, maybe that why it lost itsa black stripe, like the boy who got caught up in an accident and couldnt go to school, his hair turned white... /me stops to refering to lyrics of a song noone probably knows lol, but here is a hint if you wanted to find out what it is, the crash test dumbies did a cover version of it
