Black Ghost Knife Fish?

BGF can reach 45cm long, though i've found they don't tend to be fast growers. i had one for a long time in a Rio 240.
also depends on teh other tank mates as they can be shy.

Would be fine for a while, so long has you were prepared to upgrade to a 5ft or larger for life or re-home before it gets to full size.

Having said that, it will be a while before you need to do that if you buy from small, mine is still only 6" and Ive had him since he was 2/3" just over a year now.

ok cheers, he would be with angles, corys, plecos, 2 blue rams and a school of larger tetras

No problems with any of those, mine's with Sev's, corydoras, rainbows, tiger barbs and in his time with neons, rasboras, texas - fairly placid chaps, just make sure any small fish are with him from him being young, once he's fully grown he will see smaller introduced fish as food :good:

ok cheers

the only problem is i dont want to be left with him when no one will tae him off me when he gets too big

I've seen them sell for descent money when they are larger, so I'm sure that he would find a new home when needed, it's always advised not to get a fish bigger than the tank cna cope with though.

I would love one of these, they look fantastic but my lobster would have him for dinner.

Oh you'd easily be able to sell him when large. Not like large plecs that no-one wants, not even dealers really, but they do take them reluctantly.
