I just got my first BGK fish today, && was wondering if anyone here owns any of them that could give me some great info other websites dont have? One question I really wanted to know is, is it true that after a while they will bond with their owners? Any other great interesting info would be greatly appreciated:))

I think that they can given time, they will be able to feed out of your hand :)

so, what youre saying is, you got a particularly delicate fish and one that can grow rather large and rather predatory, with no research..

My advice?
Take it back to the shop, and do proper research before ever buying a fish again.

Bit harsh im sure weve all made mistakes, and rushed into things.

No need to be quite so rude or blunt

Buying fish without doing proper reaserch dose get on my nerves to but everyone is a beginer at some time.

It's just a shame LFS dont give out proper advice.

No I wasnt being harsh i was being truthful, also wasnt rude IMO but whatever.

I know everyone has to start somewhere, if any of you have read my journal you'd see that i really had no idea, but i was giving my advice.

and electropunk, yeah i wish lfs had at least the decency to say they didnt know, or look in a book or whatever.

Sorry to butt in, but iheartjefery did say: "that other websites don't have..." I think he has done reasearch and is just asking for additional information.

I have two BKG fish in my tank and neither of them has shown to be predatory... in fact they seem to prefer to hide from other fish. The closest they come to predation is eating bloodworms. Im not sure if its true for all of them but mine are rather pushy when it comes to feeding so some of your shyer fish may get pushed out of the way when trying to get to food.

What size tank do you have? BGK can get rather large. And yes, they bond with their owners. Mine recognizes me when I come to the tank. He takes food out of my fingers and if I dangle my hand in the water, he will swim around my fingers. Really cool fish.

once had one myself but what would you say their compatibility with discus be?
