Black fuzzy algae?

My mom's 55 gallon has started to get this black fuzzy algae growing on her face plants and on her decorations in her tank. What can I do to get rid of it?

Beard algae is difficult to get rid of as most fishes wont eat it. Scrape it off the decorations and cut off pieces of the plant where its attached. Increase water changes and improve circulation.

What are your water parameters, lighting etc.?
