at pets at home by me the have what look like bronzes... but are white with black eyes?
its odd...
what is it?

hi nakomis90

yeah that is pretty strange as iv only ever seen Albinos with pink eyes.
it might be a genetic falt ,but bronze and albino.s are the same breed of corydoras so it is possible

I know that there are several other pigment related mutations besides albino. I think that there's one thats all white but with black eyes that's called luestic, but I'm not sure.

It is leucistic that will give a fish whiteish skin or patches, but regular colored eyes. I have yet to see a leucistic cory though.

ohhhh well theres a deffinate influx in them as pets at home by me!
is it worth getting some?
i should have a ten gallon coming my way soon...is it worth breeding them?

Is it possible they are dyed? I know people dye cories, but I have never heard of people using white dye. If they aren't dyed, I would pick up a few. If you do breed them, there are no guarantees that their offspring will be leucistic. Leucism is not always hereditary, it can be induced by its environment (most often its diet)

As to species, not all albinos are C. aeneus. C. aeneus, C. paleatus (peppered), C. sterbai, and C. panda, all have albino variations that have been line bred for the aquarium. There may be others as well. I know of blue eyed albino BN Plecs, but have not heard of this variation. Learn something new daily.

Edit: I found mention of leucistic Corydoras, I did not find any pictures.

How about posting a pic of your white dark eyed Cory? :)
