Hi guys, I bought a pair of black clowns a couple weeks ago and they've been perfectly healthy and swimming around very happily. Today I looked at one of my clowns and he has like a white mucus growing on his scales, and I fear it is Brooklynella. The only way to get rid of this is to dip him in Formaldehyde so i've read, but will this cause any reactions?

Plus the little sod is a nightmare to catch, he's to fast for my net in a small tank!

Any suggestions are very welcome!

Thank you!

Uh oh. What's up with brooklynella lately???

I've used a formaldehyde based medication (called formalin) on some of my young clown babies when I had a fungus run through my baby system. It saved lives, no ill effects seen. I also continued to use it as a preventative for about a week afterwards.

I would definitely go for it. It even works better as a dip sometimes.

Thanks for your response Nemo, just having an #17#####-ache trying to catch the little sod!

Well I tried, but the little guy died at 1am last night, the other clown is looking strong hopefully he'll pull through. Very sad loss :-(
