So after a pretty rubbish day at work I cheered my self up by sneaking off to a fish shop that stays open until early evening and is kind of on my way home(ish) Went in and was really impressed with 1. the fish that were in and 2. the guy I spoke to, a lot more informed than Ive come across in Hull before :)

Anyway the star of the shop had to be this nice big Black Belt - and I cant stop thinking of her.... just incredible.

I know already that it would be ludicrous to keep them with my existing fish and I just cant rehome them, they mean too much to me but seriously next tank..... hmmmm

So yeah lets see yours if you have them? Or any experiences in general with them?

was it frisbys? they have a beautiful synspilum in the other week that was stunning, when i upgrade im tempted to gi down the vieja route, the guy i got my redmoor from had a couple of viejas 10inch plus and a nice true parrot they was stunning.

Is that the guy selling the TP ON AQ? Been tempted to ask for photos lol.

Yes it was Frisbies, saw the Syn as well would be hard not to come away with both of them if I had an empty tank haha!! Trust me there is a big big part of me that wants to go down the Centrals route I do prefer them to Souths now I think its because there is a lot more choice and option even if they are incredibly rare some of them you can still get them but with Souths there are not that many - there is also a lot more colour choice...

i love the size and beuty of them and with you having a big tank it would be great but i always think i would get too stressed out with the aggression, when they bite they really bite not like my little elliotis that are all bark.

yeah hes on AC the tp is not even 5 inch id say it was smaller its the baby in the tank, he had a synspilum, argentea, black belt and from the quick glance they all looked good and he was pretty desperate to sell by the looks of it, his jag stole the show it was huge 13-15 inch easily. hes in east hull just off Hedon road.

did the have the stingrays in frisbys yet?

Tried two of them and whilst they were pretty much the smallest in the tank, they only wanted to cause problems. I thought it was just one with an attitude, but the other was exactly the same and showed no sign of settling down.
I do have one in a display at work though which is behaving, though he has four fully grown veija keeping him in check.

I've gone down the all central route with my main display tank and it's interesting to say the least. Can't wait until my Argentea has piled on some size though, as he is stunning already.

Interesting - where do you work? Always on the lookout for good shops :)

They are a great fish but such a reputation and the name is a give away as well - perhaps a pass on this one for me :)

It's one you have mentioned before, beginning with a T between Leeds and Bradford. Not typing the name cause they search all the time
Only do one day a week there now and tbh, I wouldn't call it a good shop at the minute. Been run down on stock and the owner wont sign most things off cause it's quiet. Can't make money with nothing to sell, but ah well.... A lot of the others who work there also don't know enough about fish, or are still stuck in the 60s and reeling off bull. I have taught the younger ones though and they don't sell people things for the sake of it and refuse obviously stupid sales.
I do still have most of the control when it comes to fish orders though so when possible I like to get some different things in and focus more on the cichlid section on a whole, or small oddballs etc.

I've been reading about these lately, most people seem to say they are super aggressive and are cold blooded killers.

Ah right cool I know which one you mean :) Might get a chance to go in weekend over next we are having a day out over that way :)
