Hi,

I decided to put some ADF's in with Black Beauty in his 5G tank. First thing I noticed was the frog singing, what a beautiful sound. Next thing I noticed is Black Beauty hasn't left the frogs' side since I put them in. They swim together, sleep together and generally keep eachother entertained.

I am looking at them right now as I type, and they are playing a game of tag. BB will swim up to a frog and tap them on their back. Then he goes and finds the other frog and he taps them on the back. He is flaring at them a little, but he is showing no signs of aggression, more like affection if you know what I mean. Kinda like he is showing off.

I wouldn't mind getting some more ADF for my other tanks, but alas, they aren't big enough.

Here is a pic of the male ADF and BB

And another, unfortunatly I caught more of a shadow because of the angle I was at. By the time I moved the male frog had changed position

I am glad I did it, BB was a little inactive until I added them. He gave me my first bubblenest in nearly 2 months the day after I added the second frog. He is so much more active now, swimming around and seeming so much more alert. I am glad I have made him happy.

That's so cute!
The female betta in my 10 gallon (now named Miss Plum, as she is plum-coloured,) likes to hang out with the ADF and khulis. My frog is a little daft though... he always tries to eat the little pebbles that were mixed in with my sand :p

Hi,
I just wanted to say thats soooo cute! Second I was wondering if a frog could go in a 2 gallon with my betta? Or would that be to small?
Thanks :)

what exactly does an ADF sound like when it sings? i bought 2 yesterday for my 10 gallon tank just because i've heard so many good things about them!

I'm thinking of getting some for the white guy. He's not very active and I want something to 'liven' the tank up a bit. Plus they are very cute :)

I don't know about putting ADF in a 2G. You could ask over at the amphibian forum. I did find a site that has the song, All About Frogs. The links to the songs are about half way down the page. I found my frog sounded more like the second file "Bonnie and Clyde".

My bettas are pretty active, but BB wasn't really. He looked kinda depressed. I knew it wasn't the tank size, he started in a 2.25, and was only upgraded to a 5G. I also keep other bettas close by so if he wants to flare and show off he can. Still he wasn't active. I was going to get some WCMM, but I thought the tank would be too small. I kept hearing about people putting ADF's in with them so I gave it a shot, it was worth it. He is so much more active now, I was thinking about maybe getting another one for my 2.25G, but I don't know if that will work, I do 100% water changes on that tank and frankly, frogs are hard to catch.

I already had these frogs in another tank. I needed 2 nets to catch them. I used a small one to scoop them out and I covered it with a bigger one to move them. The second one squirmed out from between the two nets before I could move the 3 feet that are separating my 2 tanks and jumped on the floor. It scared the daylights out of me.

I have pond snails in my 5g and the frogs keep the population under control by eating all the eggs.

I think they sound like a remote control car that's malfunctioning. It's like an electronic hum. In fact, that's what I thought that noise was for several nights before I figured it was coming from the frog tank.

That is a good analogy Kiarra. I originally thought it was the steel of my desk creaking under the weight of all my bettas. So I leaned in real close and it occured to me that the sound was coming from inside the tank. Of course I was by myself at the time and since hubby has been home from being out of town, they haven't sung once.
