I have an extremely active Rubbernose Plec, its out and about day and night and loves its courgette / cucumber! But lately ive noticed it looks green! Mainly around the lip area but it can be noticed else where, it was grey when i first got it last year but it now has a faint green look to it!

Its is caused from overfeeding. U must add every 1 week a slice of cucumber. The pleco will blow out.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i'd like to know

1) what that actually means! the pleco will 'blow out'??
2) where you get the info that overfeeding a pleco veg will turn it green?

to the OP, plecos colour is quite variable, i had a L187b (aka rubberlip) that was grey and that looked gold in different lights, something to do with the small 'hairs' on his body catching the light i think. I don't think you have anything to worry about, is a picture of the affected area possbile

Plecs need veg more than just once a week ;) Dunno where you heard it'll "blow them out" if they eat more - they're more likely to get constipated and bloated if they dont have enough. I give mine veg every other day, and have had no problems with exploding plecs ;)

Will try and get a pic! I feed them fresh veg every 3 days or so which is normaly pea, cucumber or courgette.

ahhh the old pleco blow out problem!

I had a pleco blow out once from too much air in the cucumber. He spun out while heading across the tank and crashed into the central filter reservation. I had to get him a new front end but he's pretty much fine now, although he does still pull to the left a bit...so don't say you haven't been warned lol!

That was really funny. I started reading it, and as it came from a reputable source, for a nano second was like "oh! (a story)" then "ahhh, a-hahahahaha!"

Hey guys, I've got a question about clown pleocs, I got one for free the other day for taking initative at my work, also because the fish never sells, we over price them $17.99!! outrageous!, anyways, this little guys about an inch now, and I was wondering how long it'll take him to grow? He's in my 29gallon tank...

Your a bit lazy with your painting skills :shifty:
