My platty should give birth any day now and I wanted to know any behavior that livebearers show before they give birth.

mine usually hide at the bottom of the tank and they do not like to be bothered....they usually get really moody.....Sometines (its a big sometimes) they do not eat before they give birth....I have had them either way so....just be ready for anything....Good Luck

It's so hard to say, there can be a lot of variation amongst the individual fish. I've got a couple girls that will hang out at the bottom and stop eating, another one who gives no warning at all just cruises around like everything is normal and then you suddenly notice there's a bunch of new additions to the tank, to the one extreme fish who I know is about to birth becase she starts swimming loops for hours.

Well my platty is doing some sort of wiggling motion but shes floating in the same spot while she's doing it,also when I come toward the tank she swims away and when I put food in she doesnt come up until I move away.

I often go by appearance, if she starts looking square, I'd assume she'd give birth in a few days.

I'd say that they tend to try to hide and are relatively still before giving birth, and begin swim up and down and wiggle in place for the most part during birth.
