does biozyme really help cycle a new tank faster or will it just cause more harm than good?

I've used Bio-Spira and got awesome results. But be aware that some LFS that carry it don't usually say when they got it or how long its been staying on the shelf for. The shelf life I think is 4months refridgerated and 2months on the shelf. I think I got mine 'fresh' off of shipment, thats why I got such amazing results :good:

Well, 4 months refrigerated I'd believe but 2 months on the shelf? Must be some new kind of bacteria I've never heard of

lol well thats just a guess...sorry. Heres some info I took from the FAQ on the marineland website...

Q: Does BIO-Spira® need to be refrigerated?

A: BIO-Spira® is an active bacteria culture. Refrigeration provides the optimal long-term storage. If BIO-Spira® is left out of the refrigerator at room-temperature, it will still perform at optimal conditions. However, it is best to return BIO-Spira® to refrigeration when possible. Use the following as a guide:

a. Long Term Storage (1 year): 50°F (10°C)
b. Mid Term Storage (6 months): 39°F-87°F (4°C-31°C)

Id let Live Rock and patience cycle your tank for you. :) Chemicals in this form only cost you more money, LR is the go. Buy fully cured LR for no die-off, this should shorten the cycling period for you, but patience is really the best medication for marine tanks (lame I know....... ) :good:

I've used bio-spira on my freshwater tank in the past and it worked perfectly, however I never considered it for my marine tank.

I agree with Mr M, patience is the key, this is true with most aspects of marine fishkeeping :good:
