I bought a biowheel 125 today and so far i am very pleased with it. The only thing i want to know is if it would be ok to take the wheel out at night. When the wheel is in it is kinda loud. I noticed that when it is out is is VERY quiet. It doesn't bother me during the day, but it might during the night. I'll see how it goes tonight and see if it annoys me too much.

I wouldn't suggest taking your biowheel out, because a lot of beneficial bacteria live on it and will die without living in the oxygenated conditions presented by the wheel. If it's too loud, you can use a VERY small bit of vaseline to coat the place making the noise - probably where the little spokes stick out that it spins on. This should help.

the whole purpose for the bio-wheel is to build bacteria. if you take it out you will be defeating the purpose and loose what bactera you have ganed. never take it out or change it even if it looks kinda nasty. that's what you want. the more the better when it comes to bacteria on the biowheel. it was a good idea to greese the pins that are makeing the noise

Don't worry i've changed my mind any way. I can't believe how fast it got my tank clean and how much it was aerating the tank. :D
