I am fairly advanced in fiskeeping, but I need some advice on what type of biotope to build. I can get hold of most fsh and have a moderate budget so any advice welcome.

Thanks,

Joe

Using the four plants I have as a baseline I have decided on an Asian Biotope. What do I do next, I'm not too good with Asian things and I have mostly kept poecilia reticulata.

I think this site (link below) might be useful. They list several biotope options for different regions in the world, from mangrove estuaries to blackwater pools in Asia for example. The descriptions are compact but provide pretty good details to get help started. Wikipedia and google image search will probably help to fill in the blanks.

What size tank and what ph would i need for the following:

6 Betta Imbellis
4 Pelteobagrus Ornatus
9 Eirmotus Octozona
12 Rasbora Heteromorpha

Thanks,

Joe

6 x betta imbellis @ 3" - 18" ph 5.5 -7,
9 x Eirmotus Octozona @ 1.5" - 13.5", ph 6 - 7
12 x Rasbora Heteromorpha @ 2" - 24", ph 6 - 7.5
4 x Pelteobagrus Ornatus @ ? - ph, 5 - 6.5

27 fish, 53" at least a 240l/ 60gallon tank. This EXCLUDES the Pelteobagrus Ornatus asi couldnt find any info on them. They have a similar secie that grow to 1.5 " but that could be totally different.

That's an awesome combination of fish you have selected! I hope you can get them, as in my experience the first three are rarely available in the hobby, at least over here. The little catfish is better known as Hyalobagrus ornatus I think.

Going by the one inch per gallon rule, you should be able to keep them all in a 55gal in my opinion. You might want to add a cleanup crew of algae eaters (malaysian trumpet snails, some type of algae eating shrimp suitable for the biotope?).

edit: Hm I seem to have calculated the harlequin rasboras at 1.5". Better trust Aaron's numbers just to be safe.

Thanks for all your help and support guys and how muchnwould a 65 gal cost roughly?

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks Aaron,
Would I need more room for a cleanup squad of some shrimps and snails that don't breed horifficly?
