I bought my new tropical aquarium- a juwel- having seen the biorbs and thinking how nice it would be to have a few little fish in my room, and initially, considering buying one for a couple of corys and a few neons.

Lack of floor space soon concerned me and I decided that I would be much better off with a regular shaped tank for the fish I most liked the look of, the cichlids.

I was just wondering now what kind of fish could actually live in a biorb- particularly the tropical version- I don't think they come very big either- is it 30ltr and 60 ltr capacities?

Anyone used one? Would you recommend them?

uin my personla experience they are rubbish and over priced. I did not get along with mine at all and ended up dumping it and buying a jewel 60litre.

with the 30 litre you are very limited to a betta. the 60 litre you have abit more choise but surface area is still a problem.

Personally i would not recomend them.

They do look very limited to me since I started doing my reading up after thinking I would like more fish.

I was wondering if one might be useful as a sort of hospital or quarantine tank if needed, but I guess they don't sound up to it!!

The short and long of it: NO
Expensive Betta Bowls at most.
Here is a fairly recent thread with loads of info - there are also further links within that thread to other threads.

Thankyou for that link.

Thank HEAVEN I enjoy the reading around acquiring my new pets and am pretty patient or I could have one now!

I have a nice complete juwel set up coming instead. PHEW!!!

I have to say I love the look of the biorbs. They're great for minimalistic rooms and if I was a millionaire I would get one for every room and have a betta in each :) But yes they are expensive and only good for bettas.
