BioMature from Waterlife

I've been recommended this by the LFS to do a fishless cycle. Has anyone used it / got any views on it?

Never heard of it but unless it is kept in a fridge and has a sell by date like bio spira then i wouldnt trust it. Live bacteria requires a food source to stay alive so any bottled bacteria product only lasts as long as the food, most of the so called bottled bacteria products contain bacteria that has been placed into suspended animation and only exact water parameters will wake them.

My understanding of it is that it's not a bacterial culture - it's food for the bacteria, so in other words an alternative to ammonia. The instructions say to add it until you get your spikes - although for some reason it only mentions a nitrite spike.

Perhaps it only contains the bacteria that convert ammonia into nitrIte.
