hi all!

i know you probaby get sick of people asing how to change their filters over to a new tank etc so i apolagise!

however, i couldnt find the answer to this:

i'm not surewhat filter i have as it came as part of a package and doesnt seem to have it written on it anywhere! but anyway, its a tetratech.

if i was to switch to an external filter, could i simply shift the bio balls from my existing filter into the new filter instead of running them together for a few weeks. the problem being is i have limited power outlets by the tank! :thanks:

Power strips are excellent, I keep one on every tank. They actually saved the day when one of my older tanks sprung a leak all over the electrical in the middle of the night, easier to yank out a power strip than deal with a mess of wiring plugged into outlets.

Nothing at all wrong with moving filter media into a new filter however, just make sure that your new filter can accomodate bioballs and such from your old filter as many models use special cartriges.

awesome. cheers for the advice. i have a bit of a thing against extension leads. may sound wierd, but once you've had a mains electric shock from one you think twice about using them again!

Power strips are the way to go, but don't forget to label the plugs so you know which is for what.
