I would say no if your talking about the quality of the water in the display.

Just a guess but I reckon most peoples sump size is dependant on space more than anything else.

What ozzie said. Although why not just make the larger tank the display in that case??

I have a scrappy old tank. It's scratched and not pretty enough to go on display but it's water tight. But its double the size of the tanks i was looking at to buy for my display tank.

I guess i could cut it down but don't really see the point unless there is one ?

As long as it holds water and you have the room, I don't see a reason not to. More water the better!

yeah no issue in ahaving a big old sump. you could baffle it out and have a few good compartments for different bits and bobs if you plan it well
