Big Sailfin Plec

We have got a 55G tank and 1 of out plecs is pretty big now, 15". Is it too big for the tank?

im afraid so.


at 15" he must be nearly as wide as the tank so it must be getting a little cramped.



for a sailfin to live out its life comfortably you need to be looking at upwards of 180 gallons cos anything smaller then you dont get the extra width the fish needs.


they can reach 2 foot if given the space.

Anybody want to buy or swap him?? I dont want to take him to a LFS because I dont know what will happen to him

if you dont get any offers then i could probably sort something with ya cos i dont think rotherams too far from me and he could go in my 6'.


wasnt planning on another big plec but i have the space and like u say, its better than an LFS.

I just dont think its fair on him, All the other fish can swim about happily, He cant, He usually sits on the air curtain

I am only 30 miles from leeds, 30 mins or so if the M1 isnt busy

im actually about 30 mins in the opposite direction really, thats why i thought it would be best to see if theres anyone closer.

Addingham where i live is about 25 mins north of leeds.


if you do need me to take him im sure i can tempt the girlfriend with a trip to meadhow hall and get him on the way back if needed (im right in saying thats fairly close i think?).

Meadow hell is close to here, My mates house over looks it and it takes me 15mins to get there from my house
