As some of you might remember, I recently had the opportunity to buy 5 of the little black C. aeneus corys. Here's the thread I posted about them:

They are all doing great, and are living with my pandas and pygmy corys. But, the more I looked at them, the more I wanted more, and on Sunday the AquaBid auction closed. Well, to make a long story short, I got carried away and bought them! :kana: I still can't believe I did this, but am very glad I did. They are soooo beautiful.

Here's what they looked like when I first got them:

As you can see, there are 3 males and 2 females.

These are the spawning group that the little ones are from. According to Buergey2, who I bought them from, they were originally tank raised in Germany.

This time I requested that they be delivered to me in the morning (FedEx) and, with the weather warming up, I'm glad I did. They arrived shortly after 10 a.m., while it was still cool.

Here's some early pictures I took late in the day just after they were moved to their tank:

And these are some pictures I took this evening. As you can see they are nerveous fish and have been spending time in the corners of the tank. I didn't disturbe them today until just then when I fed them some blackworms.

You can see their nice black bodies with chocolate brown fins and tails in these pictures:

This one looks kind of spooky, I think!

It's late now and they seem to have settled in a bit. I have kept the light off most of the day and it seemed to help. They are swimming around much more naturally now.

Hi digital_run :)

Yes, they are different looking because of the color. They are very unusual and hard to find, and that's why I was so excited about them.

They are also C. aeneus, the same species as the bronze and albino corys, but much more graceful and elegant. It's hard to believe they are the same species as this one, which is one of my wild caught bronzes:

What beautiful fish  When I first started keeping fish, I did'nt look twice at cories, but I have since been converted. These ones have just confirmed that - gorgeous! Congratulations.

I've never seen any of those before - congrats - they're lovely  (and now I want some!)
