My BGK must be well happy with the amount of food i feed him as the swordtails fry do not get eaten as far as i'm aware of , i had 12 fry born to start with and they all surived the BGK and their mum , and now even more fry have arrived , i must have about 30 fry now from new born to 2cm .

Need to find a buyer for the swordtails before they over run me tank , local fish shop hopefully .

Anyone esle had the same thing because most say that the BGK would of eaten the fry .

Though saying that my BGK is only about 8 inch , but then poeple say that they eat what can fit in thier mouth .

Apteronotus feed primarily from the substrate, and in the wild their prime targets are things like insect larvae. While they surely will eat any small fish they come across and can swallow whole, they aren't "deadly predators" in the same way as, say, pike cichlids. That said, your specimen is a pup, and may well become so habituated to the food you're offering he won't view tankmates as edible.

Cheers, Neale
