Could I keep a BGK in a community aquarium? I have a 400l. tank (cycling at the moment - no fish yet) and I have planned to have a shoal of Harlequins and Red Phantom Tetras and Corys as the smallest fish in the tank. Would the BGK eat these fish or be aggressive towards them.

BGK's have alarmingly large mouths and can eat fish up to around 2" without problems, they are also nocturnal so would be able to pick off smaller fish while they sleap. If you really want a BGK then you will need to keep tankmates to being 3" or larger.

CFC is right. You could try to keep him well fed but they have a very large appetite so it would be hard. You could keep some of the larger corys but Harlequins are a no-no. I have heard of people putting full size 1 inche fish in with small BGK and then have no problems butthe fish they put in are uaually very alert and active and quick fish so the BGK can't catch them. If you don't mid trying it but then wake up with no Harlequins I would give it a go but otherwise stick with larger fish than Harlequins

BGKs are excellent community fish and can be kept with most things as long as they are well fed. BGK's are best with other oddball fish too. CFC is also only too right. The mouths are huge if you see and can clamp down quite hard if you get bitten by one.
