I have a bgk and a spiny eel. The eel burrows in the sand and today, the bgk tried this. I came home from soccer and his head is sticking up above the sand. Is this bad? The water parameters are: Ph 6.6, nitrite 0, ammonia 0, nitrate <5, chlorine 0, Gh 75, Kh 140, temp 78. It is a heavily planted tank with several caves. If this is bad, will he stop on his own or is there something I should do. This is the first time it has happened.

Sounds like he thinks he's found a great hiding spot. Must have looked pretty funny. If he still comes out at feeding time, and is acting o.k other than the burrowing, I wouldn't worry about it. Keep an eye out to make sure the sand isn't scratching up his body, but it will probably be o.k I think.
