He is beautiful....you found a good one. I was wondering in pic one there appear to be some guppies in the tank with him. I have heard multiple warnings about guppies and bettas as it would seem that he might nip/hurt/kill them as their long fins are easily confused for those of another male betta. Just something you might want to watch out for. It might not be a problem as your tank is very densely planted (great job might i add). Maybe someone with some experience with this will have more to add. I even like your choice in gravel. Great Tank, Great fish

Nice betta! I don't mean to offend you, but that's one hell of a planted tank! Are those live plants? I think natural darker gravel would bring out the plant colors even more, giving a greater contrasting highlight with your betta's (and guppy's) color. Just an opinion.

Hmmm. Change of colour gravel to darker, not a bad idea. I could take some of the multi colour out and add some black on the next water change. I must admit I had already contemplated this move but your comments IBB have spurred this move on.
The plants are real yes and doing fine.

Thanks for the warning Jayderana about the guppies, there doesn't seem to be any nipping or flaring going on towards the guppies, in fact when I went to collect him he was in a tank full of gupppies. The guppies stay pretty much near the water surface where there is a water current for them to swim in where as the betta trys to stay out of the current best he can. He only goes up there to breath in air and feed.

I would really like to see some pics of your betta. I love these red ones, they are not as easy to find as the blue ones. Don't get me wrong I like them all but I prefer the red ones.
He looks good when he flares, he is funny because he doesn't flare for any particular reason.

I love your plants kaz! They look great. Betta is a pretty red,I'm looking for a nice bright red one,too. My red turned bright orange on me.
