Better Deal?

Sponge filter, but get a little bit larger one. The baby shrimp can feed off the things growing on it.

Thank you for the very quick reply :) Is there a specific one that you would recommend for me?

Thank You! :good:

The sponge one, because the other one a)Uses filter floss, which is crap for bacteria to colonize b)uses carbon, which is a just a pain c)is more likely to suck baby shrimp in and c) is made by penn plax, the last sponge filter i got by them was utterly useless.
Though i would look around for better sponge filters(that one looks a little impractical and is only for up 5gals), like the one below, if you can get them in the US.

Thank you lots for the help T-F :D But that filter is rather expensive for a sponge filter ... Ill look for those though :)

Thank you, I'm really trying hard to find a sponge filter at an LFS but for some reason they are not sold anywhere! Even PetSupermarket, they have one in everyone of their fish tanks but when I ask where they have them they say they don't sell them!

I know, seriously whats up with that? It doesn't make sense. Everyone from America who's talking about sponge filters says they are hard to find  . But why?! Here you walk into a shop and they have like a million different shapes sizes and makes of them!

Every LFS here stocks sponge filters, though few of them displays the filters someplace easy to spot.

Nah, I asked the guy at petsupermarket. I know that they don't know #### but I couldn't fin it anywhere! (trust me I looked!). I also asked the LFS people but they said try PetSupermarket lol!

I have a small HOB filter on my 5gal crs tank, I just cover the intake with a bit of sponge that I cut out and tied on. It works fine, I am not fond of the noise of air pumps and they are not so good for the plants. A sponge and an air pump work fine though, the air pump and sponge that you linked to would do the job perfectly.

Thanks a lot for the reply Liam ;) I just have to look if I can find the same items at a diff. site that charges less than $10 for shipping
