Sorry to post this twice, but I figured Chit Chat might not be the place for it...

Are ADA Super Jet canister filters better than Eheims? The ES-2400 is $930.00 at ADG, and that leads me to believe that it is higher quality than the Eheim Pro II series, the most expensive model of which is the Thermofilter 2128 at $290.00 (at petsmart.com). I realize some portion of the ADA Super Jet's price is because of the international shipping charge from Japan, but obviously even if the cost of shipping was subtracted from $930, it still would be well over $290, and that leads me to believe that the ADA canister is of higher quality than the Eheim. Anyone able to shed some light on this issue? Anyone ever owned a Super Jet? I'm considering buying the ES-600 ($410, least expensive model) for my 70g, and I'm wondering if its worth the money. Anyone know?

i have 2 eheim 2128 for my 180 gallon tank and find them very lacking. sorry i dont know anything about the ADA super jets but i can say for that type of money you can build an awesome filter. Im in the process of building a custom filter with off the shelf parts which absolutly blows away any aquarium filter that you can buy off the retail shelf and at the same price as a eheim 2128. super low maintenance and effecient. i currenty using a proto type on my tank it it is awesome. i had to put in a bit more gravel and well the water went white with silt. the tank was already pretty dirty 6 hours later the water is clearer then what comes out of my tape. awesome is all i can say

if your interested let my know and ill give you some details. super easy to assemble and get up and running

I am not familiar with the super jet either, but if your looking at capability it should be relatively easy to determine by considering flowrate and size of media basket. Where the ehiem excels is really at it's ease of use, simplicity, reliability, and quietness.

cossack1977 what type of filter are you building? I've never heard of a DIY cannister that will really compare to a real one and the price difference is minimal.
