In my opinion

) ....amano shrimp are pure evil. EVIL!!!
With that being said, I would say no, you wouldn't want to. I don't think a betta will tolerate the constant prying arms of the shrimp all over him. Their antennas (?) get so long, it would really annoy the betta. Although I'm sure he'd happily trim those feelers for the shrimp
But, amano's are a lot harder to kill than ghosties, and it will grow and thrive and soon prey on the betta. It will also nip his finnage.
I'm only basing this on my experiences with amanos in tanks with small, slow fish. The shrimp always, always, always wound up in the tank with this guy in the end...
He say's they were delicious!!
They are interesting on their own though. I have a small pond type thing out back that was originally set up for daphnia. I wound up dumping a couple dozen amanos in there one time in a pinch, and to kill the bloodworms and dragonfly larva that were eating my daphnia. They've thrived (amazingly) in the heat and they've actually reproduced. I just use them as feeders though, but I like watching them. They eat anything, including beetles that fall in
So, with all that said, I would suggest a bigger tank, a shorter finned fish who can manage speed and a ton of hiding spots if you want to try it. I'm sure someone, somewhere has had success with the combo. Good luck!
