I've gone through my share of bettas. After my last one died about a year ago, I just couldn't handle it any longer. I felt like a betta would die if I even looked at it. So the 5 gallon tank stayed empty until yesterday.
These are all of the bettas I've had up to my new little guy. I don't remember all of their names.
My first little bettas Raj (male), Afia (female). They were homed in a divided 10 gallon tank.
They really didn't bother eachother, but there were instances where he would literally plaster himself against the divider to tease her. She would then start pecking at the divider, it wasn't aggressive pecking, just a more gentle thing. I loved these 2 bettas so much and it broke my heart when they died.
Photo of them interacting w/ eachother through the divider
Then there's my pretty boy. I don't remember his name though. The tank was an old used 3 gallon tank. He loved showing off for the camera.
And my girl Bluebell. She was SUCH a sweet betta. I put her in to the 29 gallon tank. She was completely peaceful with the other fish and would often follow around the cories and rest with them. First photo is when I first got her and put her in to the tank. She was checking me out.
Next fella is one I purchased after my pretty boy died. I thought his color was so pretty. It was like a deep orange color and his body was brownish.
I finally convinced my husband to get me a 5 gallon tank, and of course I had to get me betta for it. I absolutely love the orangy sherbert colored ones and this ones transparent tail.. I had to have him!
After Raj and Afia died, I moved the divider over so the split would be 7/3. I got another male betta. He was my beefy boy. He went on the 3 gallon side, and the 7 gallon, I turned in to a sorority with only 3 females at first, but then I got another little female for the side bringing it up to 4.
This lil fella was purchased after the one in the 3 gallon passed. This is the only photo I have of him.
And after the one in the 5 gallon passed. This was my last betta. I couldn't pass him up. His coloring was just SO pretty.
And now here is my new little guy. We drove 40mins to go to Petco. I knew they had different tail types and wanted to see for myself. I fell in love with so many of them, lemme tell ya, it was difficult to choose!
And then I saw this fella. He's supposed to be half moon, but I think he's just delta which is fine with me. He's gorgeous and I hope he'll live a nice long life in this 5gal tank. I want to get some more plants for it, so we'll see what I can find for it.
The photos aren't great. The light in the tank isn't working and the water is a bit cloudy. I used some filter media from another tank so hopefully the cloudy water will go away quickly once the beneficial stuff gets comfy.
