well, i was planning on adding gouramis to that list, but i've already read that gourami's and bettas are not a good combo. :(

so... will that little list of mine work? they're going into a 75 gallon tank. i'm thinking 2-3 females for my 1 male betta... so that's 4.

6 or so dollars... 6 or so angels. subtotal = 16.

for the bottom layer, 3-4 loaches, and 1 pleco. which brings the count to 21. too much fish?

IMO silver dollars are horrible looking things, but anyway. Betta's and gourami's are not supposed to be the best of friends, and I think the angelfish will get pestered a lot. Not certain, but don't expect them all to be playing happy families

Really bettas shouldnt be kept with any fish with long fins. Silver dollars can be fin nippers, theyre not really aggressive but sometimes a long trailing fin just looks a little too tempting.

ok... so no dollars....

how does the rest of the stocking list sound?

I was thinking of putting a betta in my community tank that has 3 angels. The guy at the lfs told me not to. He said eventually the angels will shred the betta.

Good excuse for more tanks! :D

I've heard mixed responses - some people say that Bettas can be added to any community tank, as long as the betta has room to make their own home, since they will become territorial. This keeps them from picking fights with other fish.

And of course, then there's the a betta should never be placed in a tank with any other fish, ever, ever, ever, ever rule.

And then there's the your betta will work in your community tank if you don't have other fish that have long fins.

Personally - the last makes sense to me. I've had a betta with Zebras before and they never bothered each other.

(Lots of help, aren't it? :D)
