I just saw these little white spots on Boris here. He was at the bottom of his tank really still and he still had his food at the top of the water. My boyfriend is feeding him once a day for his mother for the next week. I wanted to know if this could be ich?

Welcome to TFF

Well, those dots seems both bigger & less white than ich usually is. Ich looks like salt sprinkles. Boris could have early lymphocystis. There isn't a treatment, if that's what it is. But it can go away, at least for while, with good care. Lots of water changes might help (my go to treatment for all fish ills).

Are there other fish in with him? How do they look?

No he's all by himself. The water hadn't been changed in a while because we didn't know we had to but I did change the water an hour ago. What is lymphocytosis?

Look it up, lymphocystis (not your spelling, but close). It's a virus. & like I said there isn't a treatment, but water changes can help. Try for at least 30-50% water changes as often as daily or at least every few days.

Do the best you can, maybe someone else will have a different idea. Fish can get "used to it" & may live longer happy lives. It's not necessarily a death sentence. But if that's what it is, other than water changes & good food that he'll eat, there isn't a good treatment. Good luck to you & Boris. He's a pretty boy!
