I have a 10 gallon tank with 1 male betta and 3 pepper corys can I or maybe more accurately should I add anything else. My betta is quite docile, made no gestures whatsoever with the corys. I was hoping I could add 1 additional solitary fish that would mature at 2 inches. Feedback would be appreciated.

Hi pepper betta :)

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

You could add a couple more corys in there and make a nice school. They do better if there are more of them. And please watch that the temperature doesn't get too warm. C. paleatus (peppered corys) prefer their water a on the cooler side, between 60 and 77 F. :D

I think any solitary 2 inch fish would be a pretty big risk.

Hi Inchworm,
Thanks for the reply. I have my temperature at a steady 75, is that ok. The little corys, just tiny right now are very active, all over the tank I feed them Hikari wafers and frozen brine shrimp which I also give to my betta he also gets betta pellets. The shrimp Is given to them every third day. The rest of the time it is the other food. So you think my little tank can handle to more corys. Are there other corys that would school with the peppers or should I stick with more peppers.

What would you suggest I put in there, do you think I have room for much else

Hi pepper betta :)

I think your tank will be great with just the two kinds of fish. While different species of cory get along together, they really do enjoy being in larger groups of their own kind, especially when they are in a small tank. :D

Thanks Inchworm, I think I will do just as you say and stick to the peppers, they are fun little guys, very entertaining. They and the betta I have all seem to be doing so well to considering I am so green at this. I should probably leave well enough alone and not push my luck until I become a little more seasoned in the art of fishkeeping. I must say there is a lot more to this than just putting fish in a pretty bowl of water (haha). The scary thing is I can't believe how quickly I am getting absolutely hooked on it. I think over time I could get very addicted. Thanks again talk to you soon.
