Recently my bettas have been enjoying the occasional mosquito or any other bug that happens into their tank, is this OK? :fun:

I sure hope so! Seriously though, I doubt it will hurt anything, assuming the bugs haven't been poisoned or something

Many a time I've gone to feed the fry (juvies now, I guess) in the storage room of our garage and found bits and pieces of various bugs that fell into their tanks... It's so funny to see them picking apart a drowned cricket twice their size

I'm sure it's fine... provided (as Synirr said) that the bugs aren't covered in fly spray or anything. I actually thing a bug every once in a while would be a nice treat for them. :alien:

And in the wild they live on bugs like mozzies so it's only natural. :)

They sell bugs just for bettas (and other fish) to enjoy.

To to http://www.flyculture.com/drosophila.htm or http://www.maggotville.com/ and get you some.

They are fairly easy to raise (they do stink a tad though..but you get used to it eventually).

Here is a website that tells you how to raise them..you'll see it quite easy. http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/fruitflies.htm

I have wingless fruit flies, I have jars outside that I collect live mosquito larvea in, and I have flour beetles. They don't much like the adult beetles....but they go CRAZY over the larvea lol.

It's actaully quite good for them..since that is what theya re "suposed" to be eating. None of mine ever get constipated since I put some "fiber" back in their diet lol. I don't even use pea's anymore..I have no need.

You can also go to Aquabid and buy live foods...but I've found it's best to just go to the above website...you don't have to worry if you'll actually get it or not (I got jipped a few times buying at AB...but that doesn't mean you will though).
