Bettas and tetras

I would like to purchase a betta and some tetras. Should I get the betta first, get it used to the tank, then add the tetras, or vice versa? Or should I put them in together. Which will prevent little fishies from becoming fishy food?

tetras r fast, the betta couldn't catch em if he wanted, id add the betta first so that wen u add the tetras they wont think they own the tank.

but wen u get them together make sure the tetras aren't nippin ur bettas tail off
