when i picked up my new boy yesterday i fell in love with this beautiful grrl betta. she is a sort of dull silvery-brown color, with dull greenish-blue fins. her nose curves upwards, her fins are short and clippy (mayhaps a comb tail trait) and she has stripes.

you heard me. horizontal, not vertical, stripes. not stress or breeding bars, but actual stripes. like a zebra danio.

after much (ten seconds) of careful deliberation i've decided to buy her. unfortunately her first week of life will be in a quart betta hex, her second week in an unfiltered 1 gallon, and the rest of her life in a cycled 1 gallon. i have the rocks for the tanks. i just need:

one $8 penn plax smallworld sponge filter
one $10 penn plax smallworld gallon tank
two $5 short silk plants
one $2 thermometer
one $3 t connecter valve

wowie, eh? now amber will do something most people would *hate*.

she shall mooch. :*)

would anyone be so kind as to donate any of the above? i live in ontario, canada, if anyone in canada or even the states would be kind enough to send me any of the above i would worship them, and i'm sure the betta-grrl would love you too. the only reason i'm asking this is because i *hate* the betta hex, but it would take me forever to get all this stuff and by then grrly would be gone.

i'd so like to breed her to Pierce; i'd love to try and get Pierce's unclosed-veiltail mixed with her comb traits and stripes. she's such a pretty grrl, and seems very much like my big soft boys. when i was peering into the guppy tank she was kept in she swam right up and started kissing the glass, her little face all puckered up. it was another of those 'take me home!' things that male bettas pull off so easily, but females can't seem to get right.
