I was checking out BettaFix at the pet store today and noticed it's only ingredient is melaleuca. If that's the case, how does it vary from MelaFix which also has a sole ingredient of melaleuca?

Is the BettaFix I was looking at today not THE BettaFix that is always being talked about here? If it's different what is in the other BettaFix and how can I find it?

I'm wondering because a description I read about BettaFix (on this forum) said it has vitamins etc that help to boost the immune system and improve appetite - all things my one non-eating betta could use right now.

Thanks! That's weird than, that someone was posting that BettaFix had vitamins and that it would boost their immune system and improve their appetite. Has anyone actually experienced this as a result of the either?

Melaleuca is basically just an antibacterial/antifungal agent, nothing more. Considering that it is the sole active ingredient in Bettafix, any talk about vitamins is hogwash.
As a side note, tea tree oil works for humans too, and is sometimes recommended to help keep new piercings clean.

Thanks. I can't remember who posted the info about it having vitamins but that's what got me started on looking for it. My poor betta who hasn't eaten in weeks could sure use a little something like that. Then I was thinking that maybe there were two products with similar names. Hm. Well, my sick little guy is getting his first 100% water change after finishing his anti parasite meds today and yesterday he passed the hugest poo (it was a big BALL!) I've ever seen so I am hoping that he feels well enough to eat soon.

Hey, I was thinking about that liquid food that they give to fry. Do you think it would work if I put my betta in the cup I bought him in and dropped some of that in the water? I keep thinking that if I could just get him to eat he would turn around and am wondering if the liquid food would work.

No, the liquid food wouldn't do him any good.

It's BettaMAX that has vits and such, not BettaFIX. Good luck.

Some fishkeepers also recommend garlic as an aid for fish who've lost their appetite. Smush up a couple of cloves of garlic and then mix in some betta pellets and let them soak up the juice/garlic oil for a few hours. Then try feeding them. Apparently it really works to make things more appetising, plus it's meant to help against internal parasites and as an antibacterial.

Worth a try!
