hi

I would like to know if there is anything special I need to do to the beef heart before I give it to my Bettas?
I have 1 male betta, I have called him Alfred, he loves showing off.
Also two females, seperate tank at the moment from Alfred.
Another question, if they breed in the future, like I hope they do, what is the best way-tank size etc etc for seperating the male fry, and as I have seen in books and websites how would you be able to keep the male fry in glass jars and keep the temp correct?
I have 3 tanks, 1 is housing Alfred, 1 has the 2 females, and the other is ready for any fry to go into up until I need to seperate the males.

You mean frozen beefheart or fresh? I've never fed beefheart but my lfs sells them in the frozen cubes. I was wondering if that was good for bettas too or only larger more agressive fish? Lets wait to hear from the experts.

well was going to get fresh, as brother in law is a bucther, lol
he said he would cut it up into small chunks for me, then i would have to freeze it.
also on another note.
sterlisiling items used in your tanks, boiling water is ok for most things i guess, but what about the stuff you cant put boiling water on, i.e gravel cleaners. as i found out when i used boiling water on my gravel cleaner it bent, hehehehe so i had to go out and get a new one.
i thought would sterilising such items as you would do a baby bottle in a cold water solution work?

Some use heating pads, I just heat the entire room with a small space heater.

For beef heart you will want to chop it in some sort of food processor. Make sure you use pure meat- get rid of the tough tendon type meat. Then just serve it with a syringe type object. I personally don't use it but I know of people who swear by it.
A long time ago I would feed beef heart to my community tank which also housed a betta and the betta went nuts for it. I would use it now but with small tanks it seems it would foul the water quickly, so keep in mind that when you feed it you have pretty much commited yourself to a water change the next day.

as for the beef heart cheers for that info as well. if i will have to change water next day, will give it to them the day before i do my weekly water change then.
