Fishaholic
Well I went to the fish shop to look at the pretty fishes and was looking in the female betta tank when I spotted a female with remarkably long fins, so I got the owner and asked if I could have her, when he had her in the net he looked in and said "you know I think this is a male", which explains the long fins.
He was masquerading as a female as he when he was brought in he looked just like one but now his fins have grown it turns out he is a very very young male.
The only betta males I've ever seen on sale are adults and quite often dont look very well but this one is young and energetic and growing every day!
I'm very excited about getting him so young so I can watch him grow up I've called him Machiko, which means 'fortunate child'
Can you tell what type they are when they are little? I thought he might be a delta but the edges of his fins look like they might be going a little jagged (not nipping or fin rot)
I just thought I'd share anyway
pics coming soon!
