<sigh> As I said above, the Betta with the problem *would* have to be the one in the community tank... Anyway, as the subject line suggests, my Betta has two white spots on his left pectoral fin. Earlier today (or last night, I forget which) he only had one. They don't look like ich - they're a little bit big for ich and also fuzzy/fluffy (hard to tell...he doesn't really hold still). I think after I finish this post I'm going to take him out of the 10 gallon and put him in a Betta tank. I don't like having to move him to such a different environment, but I don't want any one else in that tank to get sick. So far all the other critters in the tank look good (and I want it to stay that way!).

Any suggestions, comments, etc?

I've moved him into a separate tank and added some StressCoat to the water. I tried to see if the little spots looked "flatter" (less fluffy) when he was out of the water, but it was hard to tell and I didn't want to stress him out too much by keeping him out of the water for a long time. Can Bettas tolerate salt? Should I add a little bit of aquarium salt to his temporary tank?

Thanks again.

You did the right thing, you used tank water right?

A pinch of salt will probably do him good

I hope he gets better soon

Yep, I used some tank water and some new water. He's still very unhappy with me about beign put in a smaller tank.

Should I give him any meds, or just salt? From what I've seen so far today, it's still just on his one fin. I'll add a pinch of salt at some point today.

Thanks!

I'd try to avoid meds as much as possible, try the salt and if it worsens (which it probably won't) then you should consider medicating

Judging by his cutey pie pic though,he looks great & healthy so surely he's tough enough to shake the small patch of fungus  . Try doing 10-25% daily changes in his small tank just to keep it clean :)

That's kind of what I was thinking. I don't really want to use meds unless I absolutely have to. This fin thing doesn't seem to be bothering him *at all*. He's swimming around his little tank, still royally ticked off at me for daring to move him from his 10 gallon. He'll be happy to get back there when he's better (although he probably doesn't think he's sick, he's acting just fine). Will do the water changes and add a tiny bit of salt to his little tank. Hopefully he'll be back in the big tank soon!

Thanks!
