Hi there, I wanted to ask and see if there's any info about keeping a Betta with a pair of Kribs and German Blue Rams? I have a 40 gallon breeder tank that I would like to add a Betta to and there are currently 6 fish in it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

The tank is also planted with lots of wood and cave rocks for the Kribs. So far the Rams and Kribs have been amicable with each other and the resident pleco.

Whilst the rams and kribs may be 'amicable' at the moment, this state of affairs will not last. Are they pairs, or what?

To answer your original question, both rams and kribs can be quite territorial and act like right little bruisers. It would be nice if your kribs would be happy staking a claim to one half of the tank, whilst your rams were content in the other half, but this is unlikely to happen. If you put a Betta in there, it would probably be punched and have its fins shredded.

Male bettas are not community fish to begin with, regardless of other fish species. And I concur with others here that the two cichlids should not be i the same tank. A 40g is fine for a pair of either cichlid species, but not both. I know you said they are all amicable, but this is no guarantee all is well. We've no idea how long they have been together. But regardless, one of the males may decide overnight that he is fed up with the "intruders" and then you have trouble.
