Hello all,

I was wondering if I can add a male and female betta to my tank??

This is what is in it.

35 gallon, live plants, plenty of hidding spots.

4 red platys
4 yellow guppies
20 Cherry shrimp < ---- This is my main concern... I love these guys.
A ton of snails.

I want to make sure that nothing happend to the shrimp I have had bettas with guppies and platys before and there was never a problem...

Thanks for the help.

I dont know if they will b eok with the shrimp to be honest...

most importantly, you cant put a male and female betta together anyways.

My betta loved eating ghost shrimp... depends on the betta. But on the safe side (since you love your shrimp), I would not add a betta to your setup.

betta, it's hard to say... betta, especially males, tend to be very aggressive, and it's hard to put them in any community tank, though females are less aggressive... but the two together, unless a pair, the male still might beat the crap out of her too
and with the shrimp, i'm not sure if you could add them with shrimp, i don't think males, because even if he did like them to eat, he'd still probably fight them, but females i'm not 100% sure, i haven't really raised females
If u want a betta or two, you could just go try and find a cheap 5 or 10 gallon, for one it, obviously, doesn't matter on the sexes, but if you get two, you're better off with two females, since they're not near as aggressive, but if you want to try and breed them, get either a 10 or 15 gallon tank

From other peoples experiences I would say there was about a 60-70% chance that a betta will eat your shrimp, although it's not a definite. Shrimp are however a natural part of the diet of bettas in the wild. I personally wouldn't advise keeping cherry shrimp with a betta.

i wouldn't add any bettas as they would probably eat your shrimp and will nip your guppies, never keep a male and female betta together unless breeding
